Trouble with sata to usb cable

I got a fresh ssd and a sata to usb cable, but it doesn't seem to be recognized.
When i plugged it in then booted up, the computer didnt recognize the disk either in macrium reflect or disk management

when I plugged it in after the computer booted, a notification popped up saying that the usb device was malfunctioning.

The cable didn't come with any software, and I can't find it online. How can I get this to work?

Ok apparently it was a device descriptor request that failed
