I have no experience in any form of coding, but I thought I would try dual booting Linux on my Mac. Everything is going alright and I already have installed rEFInd but I am having a problem on this part of the processhttp://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-mac-osx

I would love some help. Thanks!

The spot in particular I am struggling on is #3 as it says permission denied when trying to convert the .iso to .img

You're on Mac right? I don't know about Mac much but check the app store. Here: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Mac+burn+iso+to+usb
This article shows you how to create a USB bootable Ubuntu drive in Ubuntu. Wouldn't you want to do it in Mac? I thought you don't have Ubuntu installed at all yet? I think easiest is to search for a graphical user interface program that burns the iso to the USB rather than using the command line. It can be a lot easier to do it that way.

Damn, I knew something was off haha, I appreciate the advice. Where would I find an interface program that would burn the iso to the USB? What should I look for? Also, any extra tips?

Yeah, I usually run windows, so that's why I'm a little lost. I figure I'd try running Linux on my laptop. I'll check it out, Thanks!
