Tweaking my new setup for FFXI.

I'm having a problem with FFXI running all jerky. i.e. the video slows every third second or so creating an effect as though my toon were being jerked along. This is very much the same problem I had before I upgraded. I scored 3750H on the v2 bench so this just doesn't make sense.

I doubt the problem lies with my ISP. Adelphia high-speed cable is pretty stable now. So that pretty much leaves my settings. BIOS/GPU settings are something I've never played with before...which is why I've come here to ask for assistance with optimizing them for FFXI. [no overclocking please]

Old specs:
Athlon 1.3ghz
AMD 761 mobo
GeForce 2u 64mb latest driver
640mb pc2100 ram

New specs:
Athlon XP 2600
Gigabyte K7 Triton KT600 mobo
ATI Radeon 9600pro cat3.9
768mb pc2100 ram

Thanks for any help,
Kyoujin

I thought it was getting a nForce 2 Ultra 400. I've been so busy lately that I guess I wasn't paying enough attention. And yes, the HD was reformatted...according to guy who did the installations anyway. Everything else runs faster at least.

More info that I left out:
DX9.0b
WinXP Home

... I downloaded SiS Sandra and ran that to try and figure out if I have those drivers or not. All I see that might be of help under mainboard is 'MPS Version [1.40]' and 'Version [1.x]'.

While looking through the mainboard stats I noticed this disturbing listing though...
**
Chipset 1
--> Model - Giga-Byte Technology VT8377 Apollo KT400 CPU to PCI Bridge
--> Bus(es) - AGP PCI USB
--> Front Side Bus Speed - 2x167Mhz (334Mhz data rate)
--> Maximum FSB/Maximum Memory Speed - 2x166Mhz/2x200Mhz
--> Width - 64bit
--> IO Queue Depth - 4 Request(s)
**

KT400?? Max FSB 2x166? The box says KT600 and 400FSB. The model number for the board matches up... Do I need to return this or is there something I'm missing here?
