TXAA and FXAA - work on AMD cards?

So I know that TXAA and FXAA are developed by Nvidia, but I've also heard people say that you can run these AA methods any GPU (both Nvidia or AMD) as long as it's provided in the game. So if I was to go into Crysis 3 and select TXAA with an AMD GPU in my system, would it actually work?

To the best of my knowledge TXAA wont, but FXAA will. Not that you'd really need either, FXAA is intended as a free AA for slower systems, it works to an extent, but it makes the image quite a bit softer than normal. TXAA is just complete crap, you could achieve the same effect by buying a tub of vaseline and rubbing it around your monitor.

TXAA is exclusive to the GTX 6xx series of Nvidia cards and can only be run on games that have worked it into their game code.

No it can't, there are restrictions in the driver that stop you forcing AA in most games.

FXAA is ugly as all hell. I sooner run sans AA rather than FXAA.

Are you sure about that? I've not found any game that won't allow it. It is a post process thing, it requires no information from the game to work. There is no reason for either MLAA or FXAA from working in every game. THG has tested it before FXAA with MLAA, and every game they tested worked, while other forms of AA didn't much of the time.

I have a r9 290 and I play crysis3 with FXAA on and it works well. For me I don't notice a difference between MLAA and FXAA except for peformance.

FXAA while developed by NVidia works on both brands. It can be turned on in some game settings or forced with NCP or RadeonPro

FXAA can be enabled on Skyrim. I have a R9 290 and have it enabled in the graphics options from the splash screen before launching the game. Softens the game image slightly, good for lower end GPU with AA set to off

what he meant was forcing FXAA from nvidia control panel. for games that have native support of FXAA the option usually will be grayed out in nvidia control panel.
