So... Bethesda updated Skyrim SE today. Now I can't play my game because, lol, everyone mods their game and SKSE64 is not updated.

Does anyone know the typical time for the SKSE64 updates to be solved?

Thanks.

I think SKSE64 should also be updated by the authors. Just wait for some time. In the meantime try this workaround. Usually replacing skyrimSE.exe to older (compatible) one is sufficient.
  1. Open https://steamdb.info/depot/489833/history/ which contains skyrimSE.exe steam revision history. Find entry with the date desired exe was released on, look at "Manifest ID" it has.
  2. Open windows run (win+R)
  3. Run steam://nav/console
  4. In steam console that just opened, paste: download_depot 489830 489833 <Here enter the Mainfest ID from step 1>
  5. After download is complete, console will print the directory where your binary can be found.
  6. Replace skyrimSE.exe in your installation directory, remember to change your skyrim...

Yeah, wow, thank you so much! I returned to the game after a couple of years, modded it, played for a few hours... then the update and I'm like, seriously? I forgot about the preventing the auto-update thing, then thought it was too late.

So I followed your instructions and it worked. The only thing is that my modded game stutters for 2 seconds before it loads during the Bethesda splash screen. The screen goes black and the music goes "tick, tick, tick, tick..." It was doing this before the update, but now that I replaced the exe it seems... slightly longer? At first it tried to cut to desktop with the stopped responding window, but it canceled that and went back to the game.

It might be because a few mods have updated probably to patch for the new release. It claimed that the Great City of Winterhold was missing because that mod was one of the few that updated, so I set the mod back to the prior version (which Vortex tracks) and the cut to desktop stopped, though the stutter continued. No idea what the stutter is, but it doesn't appear to impact the game at all. I haven't seen any bugs yet. I did play a couple saves after your fix, and they all seem fine. Fingers crossed.

Thanks again!
