Considering this phone doesn't support Ubuntu's "Convergence" feature.....there really is no need for an Octa-core processor. There also seems to be a question as to whether or not this phone will support 4G LTE or even 3G in the US....

It only uses 4 at a time, switching between the low-power and high-power cores. Calling it an "Octocore" isn't very accurate.

Not sure about this phone, but most Big.LITTLE SoCs can utilize all cores if the OS so chooses, but normal operation is 4+4 rather than 8.

I do not want a phone with desktop convergence in any form. 1. It will just be a slow, nasty desktop. 2. It implies that it has the weaker security of the desktop platform. I prefer the stronger security of a non-rooted mobile device and convergence weakens this.

Ubuntu runs in user mode, not root. Desktop Linux is far more secure than Android is. Coincidentally, it's also vastly more functional. Convergence would only weaken security, if it forced you to run at root, which Ubuntu tries to prevent. Hell, Ubuntu requires the root password to do pretty much anything with the OS.

One should never mention security and mobile in the same sentence considering Google has packed so much spyware into Android that it can never be secure.
