Ubuntu 14.04 wireless connection gone

Just upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 on a Dell Inspiron and can't connect to wireless. I am a complete novice to Ubuntu and am trying to read through the forums to see how I can solve this. I managed to get some info such as:
Chip ID: BCM43143
PCI-ID: 14e4:4365
Kernel driver in use: bcma-pci-bridge

But I am at a loss as to how to proceed. Appreciate any clear instructions on how to solve the problem. Many thanks in advance

If your computer has bluetooth enabled try turning that off and then reconnect.

What version did you upgrade From and how did you upgrade the system? was it a clean install meaning you backed up all you files? I can help but I would like you to type this in a terminal and post back what the output is.

copy and paste this lspci -vvnn | grep -A 9 Network

this will tell me for sure what the card is inside your system than will will go from there.

If this is to hard for you since you are new I would back up all your files and try a clean install. Boot into the Live CD Note: meaning it will format your disk than install a clean version. sometimes this installs the driver for your wireless card if it is on the DVD. I would connect your laptop to Ethernet connection for updates as it installs.

Sorry if I did not help this issue before. From I re-reading the post the system has the wrong driver loaded for that card. We need to black list that driver so it will not load again on boot. open a terminal and copy paste the command below and reboot. Post any errors in the terminal that you get back from the command.

Place a file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf with:

blacklist b43

And reboot
