Hello everybody. I aplogize if this has already been posted elsewhere, but I did not see the relevant thread.
I just purchsed an ASUS M5A99X Evo board to replace my old MSI 770-C45. The only thing that was swapped was the board. Everything else was carried over. Installation was a breeze and there were slots for everything. I powered up and it POSTed right up. I thought great, that went smoothly. When I selected the proper boot drive however it started to load Windows and then BSOD. This was the first of several attempts to get into my OS.
Some specs:
ASUS M5A99X EVO UEFI BIOS Ver. 0705
AMD AM3 Phenom II X4 965 (125W)
8GB RAM - DDR3 1333
EVGA GeFroce 9800GT PCIE 2.0
WD 320GB SATA 3GB/S
Hitachi Deskstar 320GB SATA 3GB/S
WD 1TB SATA 3GB/S
Samsung 1TB SATA 3GB/S
Samsung SH-S223L DVD+RW SATA
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
(All drives are NTFS format)
Currently my primary HD and optical drive are on the 3Gb SATA ports. The others are on the 6Gb ports. When I POST the 3 drives on the 6g pots are "no drives detected", but when I enter the UEFI Bios it lists them just fine. When I try to boot up of my primary drive with Windows 7 installed 1 of 2 things happen. Either I get a "NTLDR is missing" error or it BSOD's and I get "ACPI.SYS address 80F0DA9B base at 80EF6000, datestamp 4a5bbf0f" as the error message. I'm suprised by the NTLDR error since that was he old Win Xp/2000 bootloader, not Win 7.
I decided maybe I clean Windows install would do the trick. I set the BIOS to boot off of my optical drive and loaded in my Win 7 DVD. It reads the disc and even shows the monochromativ "loading windows" screen with progress bar. Once the bar hits the end, the system hangs and reboots. Everytime. If I go into the drive and attempt to boot up the repair mode it also crashes and restarts.
In short I cannot get into my installed version of Windows and I cannot manage to install a new version. I backed up my data from the primary in case I'd have to wipe it, so I have no qualms formattign the drive, but I cannot get the bloody thign to do anything useful.
Also I thought I should mention that on POST it essentailly POSTS 3 times. I'll break down the order of events: splash screen(short beep) - searches for drives - finds the 2 drives I have on the 3Gb ports - "press any key to continue". Then it re-posts: splash screen(short beep) - searching for drives - no drives found - beep - splash screen(short beep) - no drives found - boot. At this point it either starts to boot off the DVD, and cashes, or off the HDD, and crashes.
I've been searching allover for any pertinent advice. Any help would be appreciated.
