Because the CIA and KGB, Mossad, and every other intel agency on the planet wouldn't want to exploit a backdoor to encrypted Government communications.

Doesn't "government grade" mean 'backdoor enabled' by definition?

I think it has come to mean that... but if you told me a few years ago that a system is "government grade" or "military grade" I would assume you meant extra safe.

In the UK we have a saying: 'Taking the Mickey' as in poking fun at something. Doesn't the name of this protocol look a bit too similar?

Note: the phrase can be considered a touch racist since 'Mick' is considered a derogatory term for an Irishman.

Well since there is no actual biological/genealogical definition of race it comes down to perception and in that case they are most definitely not the same.
