It's not compete bs. I got a dx9 game working with iz3d and its shutter option.

Every time I use tridef it said I didn't have hd3d graphics. Someone else suggested to use a display port adapter with dvi. I think tridef looks for hd3d hardware even when choosing direct3d stereo.

I haven't tried older tridef versions that didn't have hd3d support, though.

After a few days of researching 3D with Radeon HD3D I really haven't found a whole lot of info. It seems there's a few people(like 3-4) on the hundred or so sites I've looked at who claim to get decent quality 3D on some games using 3DVision monitors with their AMD cards but nothing easy or persistent. So, as far as it goes I would recommend to all to just avoid the mix-matched Nvidia\AMD hardware and software idea.
I have found some pretty good deals on 3D monitors that either AMD's or TriDef's sites recommend as supported hardware though and just figure that's my\our best bet.

nice AOCs

& a nice LG

*now if any of them were 120+hz and under 5ms response it would really be nice.

terrible shipping times for the AOC, 1-3 WEEKS! I think this is the 1st time Newegg had nothing to offer for my situation. kind of a disappointment, I'd rather deal with them for RMA than Amazon if needed.
guess i should mention I was looking for something over 24" and under $400. there's plenty of other options outside of that size and price range if you're also shopping for Radeon able 3D displays.

I haven't bought the kit and don't plan to anytime soon, but I tried out IZ3D (company no longer exists) and it seemed to work(although I cannot test, but I see the double image)unlike Tridef which they don't seem to care to fix. Tridef has more fixes for particular games but they need to get their program working with all 3D monitors if they want to really sell the product....
Maybe in the future when I upgrade my GFX card I'll just switch over to Nvidia to make the problem easy to fix, although I bought my monitor(ASUS VG248QE)expecting it to work somehow...

a nice LG

this LG D2743 works perfect with TriDef for the 20+ games I've tried and any good video player for 3D movies. am glad I finally made the switch, 3D is definitely a "no turning back" option. I could never go on with 2D gaming or movies from here...

Did everything you said it DOES NOT WORK NO 3D FOR ME HERE IS WHAT I AM USING.

The 3D IR KIT You mentioned in your post with the glasses that came with the kit.

MONITOR: BENQ XL2420TE - using DUAL DVI INPUT CABLES.

VIDEO CARD: HD7950 - CROSSFIRE MODE

dropped CROSSFIRE STILL DOES NOT WORK!!!!

windows 8.1 rtm x64 version

did everything step by step in detail in your post and STILL NO 3D!!

Hi,
The solution that you said don't works. I purchased exactly the same monitors, the 3DTV emmiter kit, the Youniversal glasses and TriDef with all installed programs and it don't works. The TriDef program say your graphic material is not compatible with HD3D amd. I have two R9 290X in CrossfireX and I plugged my monitors to have 120 Hz. I spend money to have a 3D setting and your solution don't works...
People has anything else to suggest to make that it works?

It only seems to work in DX9 games for me with Iz3d which is no longer updated.

There was a theory that using the displayport with an active adapter to DVI might work, but I haven't heard of anyone even testing it and I haven't tried it myself. I read that AMD supports HD3D over DVI and has for a while.

The only other thing I can do is watch 3D movies with Sview as it's software page flipping emulation works quite well.

The thread creator disappeared, I'm guessing the solution that seemed to work for him also disappeared. I still wonder if using an older version of Tridef or AMD drivers can trick an Nvidia 3D vision monitor into using frame sequential mode.

Somewhere between AMD drivers, Tridef, and DirectX11, DirectStereo3D relies on enabling AMD HD3D instead of generic shutter, which is what we need to do to get this method to work.

I can say this is going to be laid to rest and is not worth the current effort, as new monitors are showing up with 120hz on IPS and MVA panels, as well as the new HDMI spec will eventually make it's way to TV's and monitors, allowing for 120hz over HDMI at HD resolutions.

Give me a 120hz passive 3D monitor, and I'll be good.

Thank you PDub for the answer.
I have an active adapter Displayport to DVI Dual Link but it don't works. It could be nice if someone can find a method to play new games in 3D with this method. For what all companies don't make universal 3D settings that fits with anything? Spend money for nothing is always fun...

Yeah, but I mean for this guide, where there are so many different factors that may determine the end result

Well, apparently, based on all the more recent feedback, this solution no longer works. Maybe there are solutions, but we don't know them.

Hi I am really keen to try and get this set up for my boyfriends Bday however I cant find the emitter kits 3DTVcorp don't appear to stock this anymore and I'm not sure what I'm really looking for. can you PLEASE HELP.
Thanks in advance

First list his graphics card and monitor. 3D is very hardware dependent.

Ah, that will be difficult. There are no known ways to make that work. The OP seemed to have a solution, only no one can replicate it anymore. At least that is what seems to be the case.

You have two choices that I can think of:
1) Get an Nvidia card, perhaps a 770 or better in order to match the performance of what he has, get the VG248QE monitor and 3D vision 2 kit. This gives him 144hz for 2D, and 3D Vision 2 for 3D. This is obviously the expensive way to go.

2) Look at one of the passive monitors, such as the LG Cinema monitors. These will be 60hz, and in 3D the resolution is lower, text is blurry, but it has less Ghosting issues in 3D. You may or may not need to buy Tridef software to be able to run 3D for games that don't have built in HD3D support (most games).

well i think i have solved it, well i cant test because i dont have the full setup yet, what i have done is modified the EDID header in the driver to trick windows into thinking that it can output 3d to the vg248qe,

http://www.mediafire.com/view/d670ameoeoson5e/VG248QE_3D_Override.inf

download this, unplug all extra monitors apart from vg248qe, go to control panel, "device manager", look under "monitors", it will either say generic monitor or vg248, right click on it, "update driver software", "browse my computer for driver software", "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer", "Have Disk...", browse to downloaded file and click ok, click next and the driver has now been installed,

you can now run tridef and other 3d programs and they will output a 120hz to the monitor, i only have one dual link dvi cable and ive been unable to test the dvi sync splitter i bought, so i set up my 3d projector and used dlp glasses synced off that, i had 3d but with a hell of alot of ghosting, i cant wait till i have enough money to buy a dual link dvi cable to test this out properly 😀

What graphics card do you have? And no don't try it unless you're willing to gamble and have a quad card setup

Assuming you have an AMD card, as that is what this thread is about, if you read through the post, after the first few posts, no one has been able to use this technique with any success. I can only assume that the method stopped working.

I have a MSI R9 295X2 graphic card
