This confused me for a while, because I remembered all spells being
documented in the fourth age. Then I checked the manual and I was right.

So I'm assuming you actually mean the fifth age. Thus...

What is Mandrake Root?

Ah, unlisted reagents. That makes more sense now.

Well, for that question I would be. But for the spells about unlisted
reagents in the fourth ages, I must now restate my question:

What is Sulphurus Ash?

(This is my final answer^Wquestion. In fairness, if this turns out to be
wrong and the other post right, I don't think I should get points for it,
or else it'd be too easy to just guess a few times...)

Couldn't it also be "Who is Ken Demarest?" (Lead programmer on U7:BG,
for those who didn't know).

I never realized that Tseramed backwards became a slightly more normal
name...

Quite. I think U6's was the best of the guides to read.

Actually, it couldn't, because the letters for 'Ken' are lacking. And
since this is Ultimanagrams and not Originagrams, Demarest alone is also
wrong.

Tseramed was named after said programmer.

Also, Tolemac, one of the farmers in... Moonglow?... reverses to spell
"Camelot". And were I industrious, I could find many more play-on-words
names. Boydon, Vasel, and Erstam leading the pack, as all are anagrams.

You did good. Even to the inclusion of his title/surname. Wasn't sure if

Sorry, 'Phid, but as you surmised, the later answer was the right one.
In U6, you don't find the rune in prison. I can see how you came by
yours, but due to the openness of Ultima 6, you could conceivably
stumble across the Rune without ever visiting the jail. (Or, more
likely, you could already know where to get it and do the same.)

In U4, you have no way around it - the rune is in the cell, so in you go.

Correct.

Interesting trivia: In a last-minute touch-up before the contest
commenced, I added the term 'military', since I was afraid some people
might think I was thinking of Stonegate otherwise. And it would have
been a valid answer by the wording of the clue, and I didn't want there
to be two different answers.

Argh! I apologize, then, for the poor wording on my part. I said U4 and
I meant U4, yet I did not remember that the spells without listed
reagents were still listed in the spell list.

The answer's not Mandrake. But fear not, since you already got the points.

Quite correct, and you must have had your own brain expanded there to
retain knowledge dating all the way back to the First Age like that!

And so 'Phid roudns out the 500s, as well as the top half of the game.
Running totals forthcoming.

Sorry for the extreme lateness, but it's been a weird day. All I can
offer. Fortuantely, it doesn't matter today, since this is the day of
the Running Totals, and as such asks no questions. (I tell you no lies!)

Helgraf Dragon: 1700
Aquamarine Dragon: 1500
Ophidian Dragon: 1500
Lord Vashnu Dragon: 1300
Claus Dragon: 1200
Samurai Dragon: 900
Paulon Dragon: 500
Great Siberian Dragon: 300
Cape Dweller Dragon: 300

Due to a fortuitous landing ont he Daily Double, Helgraf has grabbed an
early lead and won't let go! Aqua an Phid follow close behind, having
answered every day as well. As for the rest, they may lag now, but with
two Daily Doubles yet to come - revealed only upon being correctly
answered - anything can still happen!

Until tomorrow, then, when I shall begin Ultimate Jeopardy Phase Six:
Double Jeopardy!

Alright, everyone, you know the drill. The stakes are doubled. There are
two bonus squares. And in less than a week, the dust will clear and
there will be a victor. Who shall it be?

Categories for Double Jeopardy are as follows:

CAST OF CHARACTERS II
NORTH STAR ARMORY
OPHIDIAN WAYS
THE BOOK OF FELLOWSHIP
RULE OF THREES
POTENT POTABLES

And now, the 200-point cles:

Cast of Characters II for 200:
This man is the twin brother of a scholar who was killed for learning
too much.

North Star Armory for 200:
This piece of armor signified that its wearer was the Knight Champion of
Monitor.

Ophidian Ways for 200:
Of the three Serpents worshipped by the Ophidians, this one went mad
following the War of Imbalance.

The Book of Fellowship for 200:
It was this profession which Batlin first practiced in his emulation of
the Avatar's path.

Rule of Threes for 200:
This Companion represents the third Virtue.

Potent Potables for 200:
The renowned, yet deadly, Gargish elixir of strength.

Thus begins the bottom half! What perils await our contestants as they
vie for the title?

I think this is the best I've ever done - and the game is only half
over. Of course, this year I seem to finally have the knack for getting
on before all six answered are nicked.

I think you may be a little vague here, so I'll choose another answer.

I'm guessing you mean Valor, since the virtues are typically given in
the order honesty-compassion-valor-justice... etc. Thus:

Who is Geoffrey?

....originally of Jhelom and later captain of the King's guard. I
think the spelling might have varied some in the series.
