Tomorrows my birthday and I decided I wanted to get a monitor as the one I am using is about 10 years old and my computer is being bottlenecked by it as I cant see any of its glory. My 3 older sisters are going to buy me a monitor together and they dont want to go over 300. I am willing to put in some money as well, about 200. I want an ultrawide monitor like 3x" and for to to be at least 1440p with 144hz. I brought a 1060 a while back to add onto my rig but I am planning on building a second completely gaming rig with 1080s and maybe a ryzen or i7 but thats another story. I want to keep this monitor for a long time which is why I am willing to pay more for it. I also want the monitor to have an amazing color spectrum. As I mostly play MMO RPGs CSGO GTA V etc. I play a wide varity lf games. Like really wide. I also have an xbone and ps4 that I might once in a while use on it. Might. They are giving me about an hour to make my choice of monitor otherwise they will choose. Help?

The best monitors available to day are the 165Hz, IPS, G-Sync screens w/ ULMB from Acer and Asus. With the Xmas rush now over and depleted stocks refilled, prices have begun to return to normal levels, dropping $100 in the last week.

$699 http://pcpartpicker.com/product/ttnG3C/acer-monitor-xb271hubmiprz
$727 http://pcpartpicker.com/product/XvfmP6/asus-monitor-pg279q

Below that you are talking TN, low response / lag times and it really is a significant quality drop off.

The good news is that Asus and Acer will soon drop new 144 Hz, IPS 4k screens which will push prices even lower

Asus has a TN model (PG278Q) which should be selling for about $550 ... but right now seem to be hanging high after the stock depletion from Xmas shopping.
