[SOLVED] Unable to access BIOS

I have replaced 3 parts on my PC: The motherboard, the CPU, and the RAM. On the new motherboard, I can't access the BIOS.

I can't access the Advanced Startup options either.

Windows 11 loads normally, and I can use all features and programs. There are no issues with Windows.

There are times when the SSD is disconnected and I press the DEL key, the monitor displays nothing but the fans stay on. I have to restart the PC after which it will load Windows.

I never see the Gigabyte logo or any other POST messages. PC goes straight to Windows 11.

On the old motherboard(also a Gigabyte UD), I could see the Gigabyte logo, POST messages and access the BIOS.

Steps I have tried:
  1. Disconnected the SSD
  2. Fast startup in Windows is disabled
  3. Cleared CMOS - several times
  4. Updated BIOS using the Gigabyte Q-Flash Plus
  5. Reseated all parts on the motherboard such as GPU, CPU, RAM, power cables, etc.
  6. Used different monitor
  7. Used different graphics output such as HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI
  8. Tried using a media creation tool from Microsoft.
  9. I can't see the boot menu to try see if BIOS is skipping USB for media creation tool, however when I press F2, the PC does not load Windows till I restart

The new parts:
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 UD AX
CPU: Intel i5-13600KF
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 PC5-44800 C36 1.25V 2x16GB

The old parts still in use:
Heatsink: Noctua NH-D15
PSU: Corsair RMi series RM1000i 80+ Gold 1000W
Graphics card: Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon R9 270X OC 2GB GDDR5
Case, fans, keyboard, mouse, monitor, cables, SSD

Solution
Solution:

I can now access BIOS. I installed a new CPU(same model but with integrated graphics) and it showed the mobo logo and BIOS options.

There must be something happening with the mobo not seeing the graphics card during POST. Either PCIe 3.0 card running on PCIe 5.0. Or maybe I could have tried another PCIe slot.

The new CPU with integrated graphics is £10 more. I have returned the old CPU for refund.

Thanks for your support!
Do you hear any beeps during the boot process? Some combination of long and short beeps (listen carefully) that indicate various system problems at boot time?

This motherboard?

[Verify that I found the applicable User Manual.]

And the problem is that you do not see the startup screen as shown on physically numbered Page 35.

With none of the listed keys, DEL, F12, or END functional - correct? Remember it may take more than one tap - sometimes just start tapping and continue tapping while the power is being turned on.

Did you clear CMOS using the procedures provided on physically numbered Page 32?

Double check LED's etc. via Section 2-7 starting on Page 19.

Hi, yes that is the correct motherboard.

I spam the BIOS key and bootmenu keys. I have tried the different variations. It is supposed to be DEL, however I have tried the other keys as well.

I have cleared the CMOS several times.

There are no beeps.

I have checked the LEDs, nothing seems amis.

There are no errors displayed, it goes straight to Windows. Fast startup is disabled.

Just as a matter of elimination: do you have another known working keyboard to try?
Yes, I forgot to add that in. I did try with another keyboard. My main keyboard is a G15. I tried with a more basic USB2.0 keyboard.

I don't have a PS/2 keyboard, however, I do have an adapter. I tried with the PS/2 adapter with no success.

It did seem as though I might have entered BIOS because the system is running but nothing is being displayed. I have to restart the PC after which Windows will load.

Okay.

Another thing to try via Windows because you can get into Windows isPowershell.

FYI:

https://sumtips.com/snippets/powershell/get-bios-information-with-powershell-cmd/

Try the cmdlets and see what can be discovered about BIOS.

Stay with just "Get"s' for now. Do not attempt any changes.

And:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/p...formation-about-computers?view=powershell-7.3

Objective being "discovery"; I.e., what does Windows see with respect to BIOS?

Look for anything in the results that you know is incorrect/wrong or otherwise not as expected.

( Note: you should be able to copy and paste Powershell results without any need to retype it all.)
