Dear,

I just bought the following:

  • TP-Link EAP225-Outdoor
  • TP-Link EAP225V3
  • TP-Link switch

My setup is as follows:

  • ISP Router connected by cable to TP-Link switch
  • TP-Link switch connected by cable with TP-Link EAP225V3

I am trying to connect the EAP225-Outdoor to connect using mesh with the EAP225V3.
This doesn't seem to work.

First I installed the omada controller software, then I detected the cabled EAP225V3 and adopted it.
I don't see the powered on EAP225-Outdoor. When I connect to the SSID of the EAP225-outdoor it is impossible to adopt it.

I really am lost, could anyone shine a light on this?

Kind Regards,

Bregt

Outdoor units are normally connected via ethernet to a switch or router. You have to run ethernet anyway to provide the power so you might as well connect it to your network.

Mesh is extremely messy and you want to avoid using it if you have any other options. Every extra wifi hop in the path degrades the signal.

The most likely problem is the outdoor unit is having issues detecting the signals from the indoor units. If the signals from the indoor units was already strong outside why would you even need the outdoor units.

Problem is that I don't have network cables to that point. I'm using a powerinjector (poweroutlet nearby)
I bought these, just to make use of the meshing capability (one hop).
Because it is a rental home we don't want to make holes everywhere.
There is just enough network (according to the specs)to get to the EAP225-Outdoor, from there it is a very big garden where we want to have connectivity.

Even with the APs next to each other the don't find each other.
The outdoor antenna always gives ip: 169.254.. so its normal that he can't be detected?
