[SOLVED] Unable to dedicate more than 1 gig of ram to minecraft server

so i have a 64 bit computer with 16 gigs of ram and when i try and dedicate more than 1 gig of ram it says this
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for 2097152KB object heap
i also have the newest version of java installed. Please help.

Its probably still using Java 32 bit, even though you've downloaded the 64 bit version.

Yes I was. The download page was set to download the 32 bit rather than the 64 bit. Weird..,

yeah that would do it, well once you have the 64bit downloaded Windows may still default to using the 32bit. So you may have to change that within windows settings.
