Unable to increase the Brightness on my Display

I recently build a computer and I am running windows 8.
The problem that I have is that I am unable to adjust the brightness of the display, which seems to only be on medium (although I couldn't be sure)
There seems to be no way of adjusting the brightness through the control panel, as on the settings page which usually give you the option such as on battery, there is simply no brightness slider.
The slider that is available which is found by clicking settings from the drop down which you get from putting you mouse cursor in the top left of the screen (forgotten what it is called) has no effect on brightness.

I am using a 270x with the latest drivers.

Any help would be very much appreciated

That is weird. Try installing the newest BIOS, drivers, and Windows Updates.

have you tried turning it up on your monitor?

Sorry for the late reply.

I've updated the bios but still no change, and even though it was turned up to max on the monitor control its still too dark.
