I'm flat out confused because I've done countless installs and never one had a problem before.

I added in a new boot drive yesterday and I can't get windows to install on it. I'm using USB drives created with Rufus and nothing works. I've tried different iso files and different formats for the file system but no matter what I always get an error of this.

Windows detected that the EFI system partition was formatted as NTFS. Format the system partition as Fat32, and restart the installation.

Now I can't even format the drives to fat32 and install is iso file without getting this error from Rufus

The file system currently selected can not be used with this type of ISO. Please select a different file system or use a different ISO.

I really have no idea what else I can do at this point and I've been doing it for over 13 hours now.

Edit : I also want to mention I have tried the media creation took and that led to the same errors.

Donwload the windows medium creation tool here. Win 10 is picky about being put on a usb stick without the official tool and usually doesn't work correctly then.

I'm sorry I think I updated the post just after your comment. I have tried the media creation tool and I received the same error on the file system format. I'm currently trying a new USB with the media tool again though.

Is it possible a bios firmware update affected this somehow?

I'm running a Ryzen 1700x and an asrock x370 killer sli/accessories motherboard with the latest firmware.

No it shouldn't be a problem.

Two of the stock are PNY. Ones 16gb and the other is 32gb and each are at least two years old maybe more. ive used them both in the past and never changed or rewritten the iso on them. That's why I'm so confused as to why this time it's not letting me install Windows.
