Who said I wanted the nasty thing back again???
Yes, I was thinking externally, hardrivewise. Externalhardrivewise.

Grumpy tonight. Left a paper hankie in the man's pajama jacket pocket.
Shaking out a sheet in the living room looked like a snow globe attack.
Just what I needed.

Because I wanted to install the game under the new user account, and only an
administrator can install a program.

OK, I will just reinstall the game under user "Poppy" and then play under
user "Sims2". I guess I've had a basic misunderstanding of XP. I thought,
User1 could install ProgramA, and User2 could install ProgramB, so that
User1's program list wouldn't include ProgramB and vice versa, which is why
I wanted "Sims2" to be the one to install the game. Apparently it doesn't
work that way, even if I could get anything to install under the second
account!

Thanks for the response!

Hee hee! My mother recently accidentally knocked a whole roll of toilet

Well Granny, I have lots of what you describe but still hardly get over
18 gigs. I do
however back up to CD's and DVD's frequently so maybe that's it. :)

Family pictures, text documents, electronic dictionaries, and games. I
have to only have one game at a time on the drive, as I like a lot of
memory intensive games.

The part with you talking about the downloads confused me even, lol, and i
have done it. I put downloads into the 2nd user acct called
'clean'..........into it's documents/EA Games/Sims2/Downloads...........is
that what you meant? I did find that I had to give control to clean to
access the C:\program files part of the game tho, just to get the modular
stairs to show in the game :)

You aren't missing a thing...........but you do have a lot of room for sims2
downloads, lol. I'm like you, I have a 40gig and a 30gig, both are under
half full by quite a bit. I've got tons and tons of graphics, some graphic
programs (for creating) and sims2 mainly, lol. Ohhhh and all those real
arcade games too :)
But no movies or music, well some music but have had it forever, so no new
stuff, lol.

I worded that badly. I meant, none of the individual graphic files are as
large as the Sim files. I mean... You work on a bitmap, and it might become
huge with layers and things but once you save it the size is respectable.
But the Sims! sometimes a recolour can be horrible. A new neighbourhood is a
sizeable beast, even when empty and used for building only.
My whole EA folder is only just pushing the Gig mark at 982 MB. Small,
compared to some folks in here.

Yes, thats what I meant, only I call my second user account Sims2. so
what I'm doing is taking my previous download(and all new ones) from My
Documents\Ea Games, and putting them into C drive Documents and
Settings, Sims2, LOL now I'm getting confused, I have to explain that I
always access My Documents from the start menu, and C drive from the
shortcut on the desktop, so this is probably where the confusion lies, I
haven't looked to see if the modular stairs are there, I don't use them
a lot, but will have a gander next time I play.

Ok then don't have it back lol,
An external drive makes more sense to me because
1--I can't fit an internal one, and I'm not paying to have one fitted.
2--I can use it between computers to transfer files(obviously).
3--They're a lot faster than they used to be with USB2.and 8MG buffer.
4--The price is a lot more pocket-friendly.
5--'Cos I want one 😛

I use the modular stairs on every house I build, lol. I never use the
staircases. And now, numerator over at mts2 has made the wooden and
holysmoke stairs recolorable thru the design mode tool, so they are getting
even better :)

I'm going to be picky-picky rude. I know why you confused me.

When I chopped your posts into bits I could make more sense of them.
Only the Victorian writers held competitions to see how long they could make
a sentence before the reader's brain went numb.
If a similar competition was held nowadays, you would win.

They have a contest, inspired by that "It was a dark and stormy night"
feller. Do a search. Yer sentence can be handed in April 1, I think it is.

This the one? http://www.bulwer-lytton.com/ Recommended highly!
"It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents--except at
occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which
swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling
along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps
that struggled against the darkness."

Hurrah! I KNEW he had to be in here somewhere!

Great news!! I want smaller stairs, Maxis stairs take up so much room,
what we*really* need is an elevator.

I'd say it is! Mine is 3.61 GB! But you are right, though. Everything in
the Sims2 is huge. I've got to weed out my downloads. I have a tendency to
gorge on downloading stuff every couple of weeks and then spending a whole
evening installing it, only to never use it in the game!

I want L-shaped stairs. The circular stairs in the original game were
handy, but I really want L-shaped stairs. I've seen tutorials various
places on how to do them with the modular stairs and I've got to work on
that a bit, I think.
