I have encountered issues running Unreal 2 as of textures and objects dissappearing and reappearing in an endless cycle. I have tried numorous Ati-settings as well as game-settings.

I have read somewhere that this may be caused by low power supply, as the Radeon 9700 requires an enormous amout of PSU. I have not experienced problems in any other game though.

My additional Specifications:
300w PSU
Sony CDU4811
Aopen CDRW 2440
Maxtor 80gb
SB!Live 5.1
Club3D Radeon 9700 128mb (277/270)
AverMedia Tv-Tuner (Tv-Capture98)
3DFX Voodoo 3 2000 - 16mb
Sightcam PC100 (usb-webcam)
Logitech Optical Mouse (usb)
Intel Pro 100 VE network adapter (onboard)

Software:
Catalyst v3.5
Control Panel v6.14.10.5021
Winxp Pro Sp1

Intel Pentium 4 - 400Mhz FSB - 2.4Ghz

Regardless of your problem with Unreal2, your PSU is extremely weak for the equipment load you're putting on it. I'd upgrade that asap. Check out the Fortron FSP 350 or 400W on Newegg.com. They're inexpensive and very good quality.

The installation issie I do not really believe... I have tried after several clean windows installs over the time, but thats for the shooting =). I shall upgrade my PSU to a 550w with double fans and a re-director-tube from the "inside-cabinet"-fan and attach an additional fan to the end of that... I always wanted to do so =)

Try updating to Catalyst 3.6 and DirectX 9.0b. Also, for the love of Pete, ditch that Voodoo 2!

If you design software that is fool-proof, only a fool will want to use it.

I tried the Catalyst 3.6 drivers when they got out... they made they same problem as when I had a Gf2Pro and went higher that Det. 30.82. All Quake3-engine based games crashed or went like on a 286. Higher benchemarks? yes, but the crashed were unbearable.

The voodoo 3 is for a third monitor... no "real" drivers installed, so no games try to access it. "you never can have enough desktopspace =)"

Sad goth...

I bought a 600w psu today... ! I hope this changes things for unreal2 and the system in general. Its around 4am... I ought to crash soon... otherwise I won't be awake when "Santa" comes around with my parcell tomorrow (yes, the postmen wear red in my country =)

For the (few) other unreal 2 players that experience this same problem, I must say the the problem actually resided in the patch for the game. NOT installing this patch will make it work perfectly. Just never thought of it, since these appliances are suddosed to fix stuff like that, not create it.

my ram and hdd did take advantage if the new psu though 😉
