unreal tournament

i have windows XP on my machine and i also have a geforce 2 mx 400 64mb graphics card and when i play unreal tourament my sounds tends to go all funny and begin to crackle until it finally breaks up, i have changed the audio properties in the game options but it wont fix the problem, my friend also had the same problem with a geforce 2, then when he changed to a geforce 4 it stopped, could it be my graphics card? i cannot afford another one.

Anything is possible, but I’m unaware of any problems like that with the GF2 card, and I have two GF2 cards.
Have you checked your IRQs in the System Information to see if anything was sharing IRQs with your sound card? You could move the sound card to another PCI slot if you had too. I’d then reinstall some drivers, DirectX, 4-1 if VIA mobo, sound, video, and the game. Also use the latest drivers off the Internet. You can try one driver at a time and see if that helped.

I've run the game with two different GF2 cards and not had a problem like that.

oh my sound card is an onboard one but i do not have any other problems with sound in anyother games apart from unreal,

I have onboard sound and still haven't had that problem.
