I decided to try out a boat. I downloaded UO Rudder to make navigation easy.
When I press any button, the command is stretched out i.e. instead of saying
"stop" it says "ssstttttttttttoooooopppp"

What is wrong?

I had another problem with the boat. I had exited and boarded the boat
several times, it worked fine. Then when I was getting ready to quit, I
couldn't get off the boat. The gangplank extended like before, I could walk
the plank but couldn't get off on land.

I had to recall to a nearby site, then go back to the boat and drydock it.

Don't know. I just use the numeric keypad for my sailing. Forward, stop,
turn around, left, right, turn left and turn right, raise anchor and lower
anchor are about all you need. Maybe one forward or slow forward too.

Happens if the spot you try to leave the ship to is more than 1 tile
higher in the z-axis than the plank. Try sailing around to a beach or
a pier to disembark.

You are right, the place where I was had a high bank. Funny thing is that I
had gotten off the boat there before. Maybe it was low tide this time. :)

I give up trying to use UORudder. It distorts the commands and is useless.

Dump the UO rudder and get UOCurse. You can make tons of custom
commands and then you just click the button. I have all the commands
for my ship, bank, guards lock down and release, stable and claim
everything.

Go out and buy a keyboard with the full set of keys.

That's pretty wierd. I use uorudder pretty regularly, I've never seen
anything like that.

I sometimes, but not always, get the same phenomenon when using UOTamer.
Maybe my computer is cursed. :))

I'm guessing it has something to do with the way your computr is
processing the data from these programs. Do you happen to have an old,
slow PC?

I have a P4 3.4 MH with ATA 9800. It is very fast. Mayby too fast for these
programs.

OOf, guess that's not it. ;-) I'm really not sure. It sounds like
something I've seen happen on other people's PCs before, but for the
life of me I can't remember .. hmm, wait a sec. Have you ever done any
tweaking on that machine? The cache, the registry? It could be your
cache is too small, and the system might be fighting to get stuff down
the pipe, if that analogy makes any sense.
