Update check failed

Windows 7 cannot check for updates. Im getting error 80070002. I Have tried to run SFC /Scannow and the process could not complete.

Any Ideas are welcomed.

Neither update will install. Both say the update is not applicable to your system.

Make sure you are getting the right one for your computer, 32 or 64 bit. You may want to add some background to the issue, did updates work before? Is this a clean setup of Windows? Anything happen before the issue started? If the SFC command did not work, you may have a failing hard drive which is why updates and the scan failed.

This is a fairly old installation of 64 bit windows 7. Is there a software out there to test hd integrity?

From the log it looks like it can't find the original files to try a repair. The drive vendor would have a utility you can run to scan the drive for issues.
Have you tried the fixes that come up when you do a web search for that error code? There are quite a few things to try.
