update the bios without operating system

how update the bios if i do not have [strike]operative[/strike] operating system? the reason is because i formated the hard disk, the hard disk had windows 8.1 but now is completly clean. i try install ubuntu but when i did it, i discovered that the option of CMOS or legacy mode is not avaliable. i tryed to install again the windows 8.1 but was a fail. i need to install another [strike]operative[/strike] operating system. my computer is a toshiba satellite c55t. please help me is a emergency

I'd definitely agree with @bignastyid about checking the laptop manufacturer's official website for any guidelines on how to flash BIOS (update it). You don't need a working OS on the laptop itself to update BIOS, however, you will most definitely need another working computer (PC or laptop) to create a bootable flash drive with the latest BIOS version downloaded from the official product page of your laptop's model.
