After putting google to use I finally managed to upgrade (no fresh install) my noncompliant PC (4790K cpu/Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H mainboard). I used my rufus bootable flash drive and ran the setup program. After the installer created the installation folder and installed the necessary files I deleted appraiserres.dll from the newly created installation folder (C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\ . and unchecked the check for updates and selected to do so later and then clicked on "next" From there all went smoothly. I then checked for updates via Settings/Windows update and it worked installing them. I did have to go to the AMD website and download and install the GPU software and video drivers as well as reinstalling Powerdesk and thereafter I installed Start 11. So far so good.
