Hi, my nephew brought his PC so I can attempt to fix it for him.

Here is some background info:
He was getting a BSOD with code 0x0000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF8800379A7E8,0xFFFFF8800379A040). He said he was trying to install camera software on his computer but windows didn't recognize the camera when he plugged it into the USB. He said he installed some drivers manually and he got hit with a blue screen during the installation process. After that, both safe mode and a normal restart resulted in a BSOD and an infinite restart cycle.
When he brought his PC, I reseated the RAM and a loose cable for the USB 3.0 Header and reset the BIOS. When I used the last know good configuration Windows started properly.

Here is the current problem:
When windows started, it was apparent that he used a 3rd party application to try to install and update drivers. It was called Lion sea software driver tuner. I uninstalled the 3rd party app and checked device manager to access the damage. Only two things had an exclamation point next to them: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000, and Intel(R) USB 3.0 Root Hub. When I tried installing the motherboard drivers for the USB hub I got a blue screen again. Trying to automatically update drivers through windows also resulted in a blue screen. Only the top 2 USB ports are working on his motherboard. His computer had been running fine for over a year now. Any help troubleshooting the problem at this point is appreciated.

System Specs:

Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4
CPU: i7-3770k
Ram: (8x2GB) G. Skills Sniper Series (forgot the timings)
SSD: 128GB Samsung 840 pro
HDD: 3TB Seagate
Video Card: Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon HD 7950

Solution
Get a newer version of the intel usb 3 driver. It looks like some older versions are bluescreening a lot of computers.

EDIT:

Actually, it's possible to install a series 8 usb root hub driver on a series 7 computer in Windows 7. Try to replace the iusb3hub.sys with a series 7 one. The version number will be 1.x instead of 2.x.
