Upgrade advice

Hey, all. I'm back seeking some advice to upgrade my PC. I'm thinking about getting a new Mobo and CPU, and would like to keep it at a reasonable price. I'd like to stick with Intel, so that narrows it down a bit. Also, since my vid card is relatively new, I'd like to stick with that. And of course when I got my card, I bought an AGP so it would work with my current board (yeah, I probably should've thought ahead on that one). Most reviews I've seen recently are all PCI boards, so I'm wondering if there are still any AGP boards available that will provide a decent performance boost. Also, would I be better off keeping my mobo and just upgrading my CPU? And one more question, now that I think of it: my mobo can handle a 3Ghz CPU, so does that mean I could OC up to 3Ghz, or could I OC higher, as long as the CPU is under 3Ghz? It's just something I've wondered about...I've asked some of my tech friends and they don't seem to know. Thanks for any input.

The 6xx series is the best value right now, but dual cores are also relatively cheap. At 3.0 ghz, you won't need to worry about overclocking. I wouldn't try it with the stock heatsink due to heat issues. I also recommend an rpm adjuster if you use the Intel heatsink: it's a bit noisy. The 865 chipset is still available for agp and socket 775. It uses regular ddram, not ddr2. But I would still upgrade your memory to pc3200. List a budget, and perhaps more people will respond.

For what you're looking to do, I'd just stick with what you have. The CPU can be overclocked, probably between 2.7GHz and 2.8GHz.
