Hello, i was thinking about to change my cpu for a new Ryzen Cpu, but worth it?

I like videogames, streaming and do encoding with movies quickly.

I was looking for a Ryzen 1600x cuz this is an balanced cpu for gaming/workload, the 1700x is much more a full workload for me...

So i want ur adviced about this, because of rhis i'll sell my 5820k + MB x99 to voy a full Ryzen System, but really worth it?

Thanks.

Your CPU is very good, so there no point upgrading to Ryzen as they did not give people a good first impression.
5820K is a Extreme CPU? - I think that is good enough and future games proof.

Wait a week or three for some proper benchmarks. Then wait another 2-3 months for firmware updates for motherboards and so on.

Btw, why waste money on upgrading from such a strong platform? Cant see that Ryzen should be any faster. Not worth a 5-800 dollars upgrade anyway...

Like wernstar said, wait for the benchmarks and other updates before you decide to upgrade.

Look at the review for 1800x that just came out here on Tom's. It does well with workstation tasks, but for gaming, it doesnt even compare to the i7 7700k that was downclocked to match it.

Your current 5820K is still fairly recent, and should last you a while.

I was thinking about jump to a 6850k (cuz is an six core, and its an perfect balance for gaming and multi thread works) Ryzen 7 1800x-1700x r for multi thread works and beats 5820k and the 6850k-6900k, but what about gaming? I dont like 7700k because is an pure gaming cpu, has a lack of cores, wich reduce the multi core performance, so thats my confusion...

I can oc my 5820k to 4 ghz 24/7, i want to upgrade for the new technologies too (full usb 3.1 support or new chipset) if i can push an 1700x to 4,5- 4,8 ghz it would stomp the 5820k? Just advices, i want to sell the processor before intel cuts the prices even more

Only reviews for the 1800x are out. This is the top tier of the AMD Ryzen line and looks geared more towards workstation tasks, but that is not to say that the later iterations will not be tweaked to perform similar to Intel's other lines. Like everyone is saying, you want to wait for the other reviews to come out. If you are seriously just looking to upgrade because you want the other technologies as well, nothing is stopping you, but at least wait for the reviews and sales that will be coming forth. What you have now is still a respectable setup.

All has been already said. Additionally, I highly doubt you'd be ever able to push the 1700X to 4.8 GHz. About lucky 1% of new 1800X owners may have it stable at 4.1GHz...
