I am not sure in which section this should be posted, so sorry if this isnt right place.

My friend needs to upgrade his CPU, MB and RAMs and asked me to assist him with it. I guess he'll have to get some heatsink as well. He wants to spend around 900$. (we live in Europe, so for EU users, its around 650EUR).

I would probably recommend him some i7 and eVGA mobo, but that would be quite over his budget i guess.

Note that he has nVidia card (275) and might want to SLi it later. He might want atleast 4GB of RAM.

So please shoot out any suggestion is welcome, it doesnt have to be exactly 900$, of course less is preffered. This guy is quite hardcore gamer (not that much into hardware tho'), so that will be most common usage of his new setup. I will help him overclock too.

Sorry for double post, i forgot to mentoin he currently have q6600, some asus board (which was broken & RMAd 2 times already) and 4GB of RAM 800mhz

Prices vary a lot between countries , but in the US you can buy an i7, mb and ram for well under $900 . Probably about half that

You can buy an AMD 955/mb/ram for about $400

Its hard to offer useful advice unless you can point out your local pricing

Not sure how, but i think is too much to ask you to search thru foreign online shops.

This is the one we'll probably be ordering from http://www.alza.sk/

Anyway, i will check prices of above suggested components and let you know how is it compared to newegg prices :)

Wow! Thanks for extra effort. DPH = VAT, I am able to buy without VAT, so the prices you posted are accurate.

Hey, me again. I just wanna ask if i shouldnt get P6T Deluxe v2 instead of normal p6t?

Also i have two additional questions. Will the Enermax Infiniti 720W be ok for i7 build? And same with Noctua NH-U12P. Are those components OK or should they be replaced?

No, the noctua NH-U12P 1366 uses a different mounting plate than the NH-U12P and i cant locate a a mounting bracket for it so you are going to need to look into a different cooler. if he already has the enermax then you can keep it if not get a corsair or an antec instead. Dont let him SLI 2 GTX275's on the Enermax PSU it definitely wont handle that.

Oh that's too bad... Was not a cheapest cooler i think. Anyway, i'll make a research for another one suitable for 1366.

By the way, i noticed the P6T Deluxe V2 is currently not in stock, so i was wondering how is this board compared to GIGABYTE EX58-UD5 . Prices are quite similar.

The one i meant to suggest was just the plain p6t as the deluxe v2 is just a better sound chip and slightly nicer heatsinks than the regular p6t. The UD5 will have lower sound quality likely, it doesnt even list what chip it uses for the sound so i doubt its a higher quality one.

On the site i mentioined earlier it says

8-channel High definition audio realtek, ALC1200 for P6t and ALC889A for UD, but i guess thats something different from what you mean. :)

They both costs almost the same..

Most people wont notice a difference between the sound quality of the two boards, the only notable difference is the slot layout between the two boards. The gigabyte board is best for trifire or triple sli, the asus board is better if you intend to move an old PCI card over and still do crossfire, if you dont intend to do crossfire either board will do just fine.
