Question Upgrade for the future

Hello hello...

So, I am thinking of upgrading my system to be more customisable futurewise. By that I mainly mean changing my mobo, RAM and CPU to more modern ones. My PC is for gaming purposes but I do like processing power also, just to be sure.

This is somewhat my PC now: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gQN37W
And this is the PC I currently plan on "upgrading" to: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/67nc8Y

My main questions are:
Is this even worth doing? My PC is really loud nowadays and merely getting a new case, fans and a CPU cooler could be enough.

Is this effectively just a downgrade? If I want to improve my possibilities to expand on my PC in the future, should I just get and RTX 2060 or 70 for future SLI? Or is it worth to upgrade to the new DDR4, Z370 and Intels generation 8/9?

Lastly, if I decide to keep my i7-4790K, is the Deepcool Gammaxx GT enough or does my CPU boil with it?
(ps. don't tell me that I don't need a new case, it's mainly for my aesthetic needs)

Thanks for everyone answering and have have a good day if you are just walking by!

It's more of a sidegrade then upgrade, keep your 4790K & if the fans are too loud on your AIO then replace them with quieter ones. As for the GPU don't bother with SLI as support is pretty poor nowadays, just get the best single GPU you can afford.

Welcome to the forum!

Yeah... after giving it some thought, it would feel really weird to buy new parts since these parts were the "hot stuff" a few years ago... I have decided to buy a new case with a new water cooling solution (Corsair h150i) and that should be enough to make my life a little more quiet

Yeah... I would go with a custom loop but my budget and nerves are not enough haha... Btw, I have another thread going and if you like planning PCs, there's a challenge for you :p
