Hey i was wondering do you guys think its worth upgrading from a 4000+ to a fx55? I dont know much about the fx55's is the only difference that there 200mhz faster and have a unlocked multiplyer or is there more benefits?

Thanks
Mike

NO! I'd just overclock it if you haven't already done, WHY pay for a FX-55 when you could turn your 4000+ into one?!
For more dualcore power, try with a dual core (X2 4200+, 4400+ or 4800+).

Hell to the NO! I can overclock my AM2 4000+ to 3Ghz which is faster then anything on the AMD side of the house and it has 2MB of cache and the onboard AMD memory controller. It flies and still stays cool. I backed it off to 2.86 though just so I could keep the voltage under 1.5v. Stick with the 4000+ and overclock the sh*t out of it, you'll be impressed!

I have a X2 4200+ and it's hella fast- too bad my HD can't keep up. I would overclock, but stupid Mobo locks voltage and you can't have a bus speed bast 10MHZ of the defaults. (Or else it won't boot)

you can easily OC your CPU to a FX55 (Like Me  )
use the 11.5x226 with stock Voltage...
but if you want to upgrade ,then go for a Dual Core CPU :!:

Another question is upgrade to a fx57 worth it or should i go with a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Toledo 2.4GHz

Reason being i wana get into the highend stuff sense there hella cheap now.
Also another thing in windows xp pro is the 2nd core being used? and in games only one core is being worked right?

x2 3800. Only one worth buying.

All AMD's processors are the same, just the better quality ones get a higher clock rating. You can oc them though, just means the voltage has to go up a bit, nothing they can't handle.

I'd find a x2 3800 quick, since you need socket939. They are very cheap and you'll notice the difference from your current cpu.

Oh and to reiterate an already made point.

Don't get an FX, it's marketed rubbish. Why pay 5x the price for 20% more performance? They aren't worth their money anymore, core2's wipe the floor with them.

Ahh i dunno 2x512k caches. I was wanting 2x1mb cache those are the true highend ones that are really like the 4800's.

I think the 4400 is a better choice personally.

I can't remember what AMD models have 1meg, i think you are right its the 4400, if so get them. The higher models just arent worth buying imo.

Well yeah, i was going to say. There is a point where there is no point wasting money on 'top end' AMD processors.

Building Intel is easy. Same principals. The core 2 is by far the fastest available, i'd switch to it rather than buying an FX cpu.

Yeah im not sure if its time for a completly new rig. I might just overclock my 4000+ to 2.8ghz and when the G80 nvidia comes out buy then 7950gx2 cause there gona drop in prices.

thanks Shata. i would just experiment with the overclocking a little and then if you need more graphics power upgrade that. then when your current system starts to slow way down then build a new high end setup, thats what i'm going to do. i may not have conroe speed now but my system does a great job at the games i play (fear, cod 2 and i just ordered new ghost recon game).

They won't drop in prices though. It doesn't work like that.

The last I saw, the 4800+ was only a few dollars more than th 4400+, so I'd get the 4800+ if I was making the choice. Actually, I've thought of doing that anyway, and giving my present 4400+ to my son.
