I have a M3N72-D Motherboard with DDR2 a 260GTX and 955BE, I was hoping to get peoples opinions on if it would be worth while to upgrade to an AM3+ Mobo with DDR3 and maybe a 7970 when I can actually get one. If I do make the jump i'll hold on to my 955 till Piledriver

Worthwhile............... more than that.....
That is one of the best upgrade routes if you have the money for the Board, take the jump..... it'll give you the best performance for the Processor you have currently and will be good for further upgrades too.

Thanks, I just started thinking maybe I should just get a new videocard and call it good but i've been wondering how much the DDR2 is holding me back. The chip has hit a roadblock at 3.6Ghz on air and i'm thinking it can still do better and hold me over till Piledriver.

Why not wait for the Piledriver to come out and then at that time buy a new GPU too.
By then the 79xxs would have dropped quite a bit I think, still making it a really very very worthwhile wait.
The DDR2 is going to really stop everything in the rig from going ahead. You could opt for the board now...... and wait for the PD and 79's to come out and down...

That actually sounds like a good idea, I have no issues with the 260GTX I really just want DX11. I haven't built a new machine in awhile so you can understand my excitement to just throw everything together right now ha ha. But I like your plan. It'll save me money down the road.

Yeah I'm aiming for $2000 I almost switched to Intel but I believe in AMD. Sigh, hate being a fanboy but it's not like i'm going to have to switch out the motherboard anytime soon with Ticks and Tocks. I HOPE they wouldn't have spent all this time and money on something that's going to fail. Fingers crossed for PD.
