So my msi gtx 560ti just died, almost 4yrs old card. I wasnt planning to upgrade for another 2-3 years. I did a bit of research, i could go the cheaper gtx 750ti(~150$) or gtx 970(~350$) and yes i like nvidia better than amd/ati. I know those 2 cards are completely 2 animals/worlds apart. But, i feel cheated if i go w/the gtx 750ti because 150$ for mere upgrade. Thats why i would prefer the gtx 970, more future proof and can plays almost everything max @ 1080p which the resolution im playing at.

-Side question, should i go back to the msi brand just because my previous one died so quickly? i know i can always msi temp/fan noise level.

-3 brands of gtx 970 i would consider if i do get one.
msi gtx 970 gaming 4g
asus strix gtx 970
gigabyte GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD

im tempted to go back to the msi T.T, for overall value if all of those cards are priced the same. i aslo like the asus strix because it looks good and it perform almost the same as the msi in terms of temp/noise and not too long like the gigabyte one. and the asus strix is the weakest in term of overclocking which i dont mind and i probably wont oc too high or at all.

sorry if this post is too long and thanks in advance.

They are all equally as good (within 1 or 2 FPS). You can easily OC all 3 of them well.

I'd suggest you look at which one has the longest warranty? I know some ASUS cards have 5 year warranty (As this seemed to be your previous problem).
And the MSI Afterburner that you are familiar with will work on all 3 cards. Happy days! 😀

Ultimately they all perform the same, Choice is yours. Depending on your budget, I'd just get the one with the longest warranty available for that price, OC it after if you want that 1fps more.. 😛

Happy gaming!

if you're not a fan boy and don't have a crush on any cooler then just go with the cheapest one . I got a g1 gaming , its the most expensive one where i live but i just live the Windforce logo and the backplate

I'd get an ASUS Strix.

MSi's Twin Frozr is a good cooler, no doubt but their gpus tend to have troubles - like lubricating oil leak, fans dying too early, one fan making rattling noise. And Gigabyte Windforce is expensive of them all, so at this moment an ASUS Strix would be the best option.

thats what happened to my old msi gtx 560ti. one of the fan broke w/in 1 and half year. yeah, so im getting the asus strix 970.

thx guys.

Okay glad I could be of some help. By the way, I just bought an ASUS Strix GTX 960 two days ago. So far so good, completely silent even while gaming.
