Hi all,
I want to upgrade my ageing video card. Here's a rundown of my situation/setup:
APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: As soon as I know what to get.
BUDGET RANGE: approximately € 200,-Before / After Rebates
USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming. I play a variety of games. Ranging from WoW to current triple A games. Latest games I bought are:
CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: Currently using a Radeon R9 270X-DC2, 2GD5 (bought in 2014). The power supply is an Antec Earthwatts, 500W.
OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS:
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming3
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Low Profile, 8 GB. PC3-12800 1600MHz (also thinking about upgrading this. Bought em in 2011. So might be time).
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Any trustworthy site in the Netherlands (I usually use https://tweakers.net/categorie/49/videokaarten/producten/ to look up a product and order from one the suppliers listed).
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: The Netherlands
PARTS PREFERENCES: I typically go with Asus, MSI or NVidia because I know the brands.
OVERCLOCKING: NO SLI OR CROSSFIRE: NO
MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1200
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I have a dual monitor setup. Both use DVI. I would prefer a card that is not too loud with the stock cooler.
I am currently eyeing these two cards:
Radeon RX 580 and GeForce GTX 1060. But I am not dead set on having it be one of these two. To be honest, they confused me a little bit during my own research.
https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/...-R9-270X-vs-GeForce-GTX-1060/3741vs2702vs3548 shows both as a definite improvement over my old card. With the GTX 1060 being the clear winner in that comparison.
http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-RX-580-vs-Radeon-R9-270X shows a different story however. With the RX 580 winning overall. But neither of these cards seem to blow my old card out of the water.
As mentioned, I do not particularly care what card I end up with. So long as it's a marked improvement over my old one and has a decent price.
Thanks for you time!
