I've studied these forums and am trying to decide whether or not it would be practical to upgrade my video card. My current setup is:
P4 3.0HT
2GB ram (corsair XMS)
ATI 9800 Pro.

My question is whether or not I can get a major gaming boost from a new agp card. I don't want to build a new system for at least a year but, I also dont want to waste money ona card that won't benefit me that much.
In short, Is there a card or gpu that will make my current 9800 pro look like yesterdays news?
Thanks guys.

Oh my word, yes!. 3.0GHz P4 with 2GB ram...you are a perfect candidate for a higher end AGP card. I'm going with Prozac on this one the X850XT or 7600GT are wonderful upgrades for that rig. If $175 is too high, you can find a X850 pro for $140 or X800GTO for $125, but I think the $175 dollar choices are worth the few extra bucks. If you are in the USA, Newegg seems to be the current AGP bargain site as the shop.ati deals are gone.

That X850XT that Prozac linked to is your best bet. If you want *most* of the X850XT performance, you can get a BFG 6800GS for $140 (after a $30 mail-in-rebate, mind you), and hope that it either unlocks or overclocks really well. However, I'd go all-out and get the X850.

You have a great CPU (Northys are the best P4s), and a sh!tload of RAM; that video card is a perfect complement to your system
