Hi,

My machine is now 6 years old and has reached the point of being a bit to old and crap to play all the games I want. So the question is this should I bite the bullet and buy a whole new system, or is it worth upgrading anything. This is the spec

Case: Cooler Master HAF 932
Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower 650W
Processor: Core i7 920 8MB Cache Socket 1366
CPU Cooler: Akasa AK-967 Nero Direct Contact Heatpipe Cooler (Socket 1366)
Graphics Card 1: Radeon HD4890 1GB GDDR5 PCI-Express
Graphics Card 2: None
Memory: 6GB Corsair DDR3 1600MHz C9 Triple Channel
Motherboard: Gigabyte EX58 UDR3 Socket 1366
Hard Disk Drive One: 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1 32MB Cache SATA 300

Solution
Replace. The original Bloomfield processors have good power, but by todays standards are clocked relatively low and generate a lot of heat. You can still get by with that setup for a bit longer if you wanted to wait... Maybe just replace the GPU (to a GTX 970 perhaps) and then save up for a new rig. The GPU can be used in the new build down the road so this won't be a wasted upgrade path.

...the good news is that when you are ready to upgrade, you can re-use quite a bit of your parts and save on the budget. The case, memory (2x2GB), hard drive and CPU cooler should all carry forward. The PSU would also, but would recommend looking toward a Tier 1 or Tier 2 unit as an upgrade...

Solution
you are good to go man just get 2X4 gb ram combo and a better gpu like gtx 960 or gtx 750 ti if you are budget and you are good to go , the weakest part from your pc is the video card, it's too old to compete with today standards.

Hold off for now. Maybe replace your graphics card. Otherwise, patience is a virtue and Skylake is coming. Either you will get a potentially superior product for the same price or the existing Devils Canyon product for a discount, however marginal.
