I built my current rig in 2012. At the time I put it together from recommendations from this forum.

I'm happy to say that 7 years later I'm still gaming and would like to breathe some new life into my build.

Current Setup
ComponentModel
CPUIntel i7-3770K CPU (4 x 3.50GHz, Ivy Bridge)
GPUEVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti, 3GB DDR5, PCI-Express
MotherboardAsRock Z77 Extreme6
RAM16GB-Kit G.Skill Ares PC3-12800U
SSDSamsung 840 EVO 1TB 2.5-inch Basic SATA
CaseCorsair Obsidian Series 550D
PSUCorsair Gold AX850

Other considerations:
  • Upgrade budget: ~€800 or less (based in Ireland hence the €€€)
  • Windows 10
  • Don't currently have a 4K or 144Hz monitor (but would like to upgrade later this year)
  • Games I'm currently playing: Witcher 3, PUBG.
  • Games I'd like to play: Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Metro Exodus
I'm pretty sure that my graphics card is a bottleneck here and I've been looking at the GTX 1660 Ti for a good value performance bump. However, I'd really appreciate your thoughts and recommendations about what should be updated as I'm by no means an expert on this. Thanks in advance.

I'd get a new GPU first, then monitor. In the meantime I'd overclock that 3770K as far as it will safely go with the proper cooling of course.

Not sure what your income looks like but I'd get this GPU...

Next would be your CPU/MB/RAM.

I was thinking a GPU upgrade as well, and then waiting to see what the CPU market does in the second half of this year. Your PSU has a 7 year warranty. I might look at replacing that also. If you don't have a good CPU cooler I would also invest in one.

Something like this until you decide to make a move on a new CPU/Mobo/RAM setup. You can of course cut back to the 1660 Ti, NH-U12S, and keep your current PSU. I wouldn't want my main system using a PSU that was out of warranty though.
