With Christmas on the way I thought it would be time to upgrade some parts of my PC and needed some advice, probably just gonna upgrade the CPU and GPU. I've got a budget of $600-$700 AUD.

Current Specs
Mobo: B450M-A PRO
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 3.6Ghz
GPU: RTX 2060 Super 8gb
RAM: 16GB (8GB x 2)
Monitor: 1920 x 1080p

Thanks!! :)

Where are you?

Where will you likely buy from? Amazon? New Egg?

What are the 2 or 3 primary purposes of the PC?

What specifically makes you unhappy with the current PC?

Details always helps.
Oops, here u go
- Australia
- Just wherever is cheapest, I usually just use PCPartPicker to figure that out
- Mostly just gaming
- Multiple reasons, GPU is getting old (5+ years) , there have been problems with the stability of the PC with all signs pointing to the GPU (it's still been usable, just a bit of an inconvenience when it crashes once or twice a day). Also want to be able to play modern games at higher graphics settings.

Let me know if u need any more details.

Your PSU was most likely your cause for instability. I would verify that first. Ideally, you need CPU, ram, and a GPU, but that would place you outside of your budget, unless you can score some good deals on the used market, on ram and CPU.

Shop for a 5700x3d cpu......cpu cooler.....2x16GB ram kit.

See what that does to your budget.

If you were in the US I’d tell you get the 5700x3d, 32gb ram and that you might have enough left for a nice gpu. Not as sure about Australia because I’m from the USA.

Check this guy out on YouTube, he’s from Australia but seems very knowledgeable. I watch his channel from time to time.

Thanks for that, I'll take a look. I've decided to expand the budget. Going to upgrade the RAM to 32GB, get the 5700X3D CPU and possibly looking at getting an RTX 4070 for a meaningful upgrade from my 2060 Super, but still not 100% locked that in.

If you were in the USA, Amazon here has the rx 6800 xt on sale for $350. It was a higher end card from a couple of years back but still performs close to the 7800xt and in the neighborhood of the 4070. So you may look on the amd side as sometimes they have better pricing going on.

PSU died last week, it was a 5 year old TX550M. Most likely going to go with a Corsair RM750e (2023) as a replacement.
