Would it be worth it to upgrade from a skylake i3 to a ivy/sandy bridge i7? Assuming that i sell the i3 and mobo for the same price as the ivy/sandy bridge i7 + mobo i bought would it be worth it? The i7 for sandy and ivy bridge are older, but the i7 cpu varients is faster. im thinking about going from an i3 6100 to i7 3770 or i 2600

Solution
Personally, I'd say no. You'd be going from a current platform to an obsolete platform. Why not just upgrade the Skylake CPU if you are not satisfied?
List the exact i3 you have now and the i7 you want to have.

Hey man...
Don't downgrade ur PC....
Since new games are coming day by day... The gaming requirements are getting high ...
If u want to downgrade then u will need lga 1155 mobo + ivy / sandy bridge processor ...
Better u can do one thing .. Let the amd release their Zen CPU.... If u see the performance is really good then u can switch to amd .... Or u can upgrade to kaby lake... As there are new instructions set in this processor and TDP is low ( Watt ) ...or u can wait for Coffee lake ....
