In my laptop, I need to upgrade the SSD because it ran out of room. I have a Dell G7 7790 laptop with a 128 GB Toshiba SSD (M.2 2230) and a 1 TB Western Digital (WDC) HDD. There's been literally nothing on the HDD. According to Windows Disk Management, the SSD has the OS on it in Partition 2. But when I look at the BIOS, Boot Sequence it shows "Windows Boot Manager" then "UEFI: WDC [its model], Partition 2. This is extremely confusing. For one, there is no Partition 2 on the HDD according to Windows Disk Management. When I check for other sources to boot from, the SSD is not listed. I do note that SATA Operation is set to RAID instead of AHCI (Factory default). And if I want to switch to AHCI, there are danger messages. I have looked into that; and it can be disaster, but if one uses SafeBoot mode they can be successful. Some information seems to indicate that NVMe is not seen when in RAID. RAID does not make sense for the original setup because the two drives are not the same size/parameters. Do you recommend that I go through that process - that perhaps the SSD will show in BIOS? It seems to be worth it to me so that I can see the new SSD - 1 TB Sabrent Rocket 4 to make sure it is to be booted from. I intend to clone from the existing SSD to the new SSD.
