The new 5090 laptops are coming out, that being said running an older 3080 ti laptop and looking to upgrade, need some mobility and I'd like to game at max settings 1440p if possible couple years+ futureproof. My options are either for me to grab an RTX 4090 laptop for a lower price now or pre-order a 5090 laptop and pay more, if you think the 4090 is the way to go which one is the best for performance, I basically use as a desktop replacement, sometimes carrying it around, but usually for desktop replacement. I video edit and render videos also and use the Adobe suite. So basically should I go for the 4090 laptop route, spend less and still get some good performance at 1080p/1440p or bite the bullet and go for the new 5090 laptops and spend more I'm thinking the 5090 laptop GPUs will be somewhere around the 5070ti/5080 desktop performance (hopefully) if that's the case that seems like the best idea. Any opinions, and if so list the laptops that you'd recommend. Much appreciated.

They just had a huge sale on laptops. If im being honest there might be still some out there. They are also giving away free key for Assassins creed new game.
If recent events are anything to go by i would speculate the New 50 series laptop are going to cost more and you get less.

yeah you're probably right, but if I'm willing to spend $4gs plus on a laptop shouldn't I just go for the best, if it's anything like last generation 4090 laptop GPU is around 50-60% better then my 3080 ti laptop GPU that I'm using now, pretty big difference. In terms of other big things probably not anything else and more A.I. stuff that may not actually help out too much in the end.

50 series in laptops looks like it's going to be redux of the desktop launch, but with even smaller gen on gen uplift and potentially worse efficiency. That said you are coming from a 30 series so it may be worth it. Consider price to performance though, these 40 series lappies are getting pretty cheap and I doubt the 50 series will be that much faster (4-5% is the widespread speculation but wait for reviews) but a lot more cash.

Yeah, I think that's the smart thing, wait for some reviews, if it's like 20-25% better at 1440p+ I think it'd be worth it plus I don't really like going back generations, but a killer deal is a killer deal. I was thinking the model with the AMD 9955HX3D and with RTX 5090, seems like the best combo or at least one of them, other would be the U9-285HX/5090.

I'm a really picky laptop consumer, so I tend to get into everything about them when I buy. I want to know all the power limits, display specs, storage and RAM upgrade possibilities and serviceability, crapware.... I typically look for a review in which they tear the thing down once the benchmarks are done. (Notebookcheck.net is great for this btw) That's why I'm completely ignoring the fact that some 50 series machines are up for pre order. There's way too much to be unsatisfactory about a laptop to just jump on board sight unseen.

yeah I totally agree, I just don't like waiting and waiting either....especially with the state of gpus but either way it's the best thing to do, I could go for a desktop also honestly, but laptop much easier for me and I don't need top of the top for 4K, so it really makes more sense for a laptop. Like I said if the benchmarks for the 5090 laptop GPU are like on par with a 5070 ti desktop or a low-clocked 5080 I think that's really good, and I'm expecting something like that, so I guess we'll see.
