I have a compaq with 1.8 mhz pentium 4 on a board without AGP slot. The current memory is PC 133 7NS 168 PIN 512133n.
Since the PCI graphic card blew , I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to take the components and memory and build up a little faster system. It doesn,t have to be top of the line but I would like to use a AGP graphic slot.
Or should I just hang on to my current stuff and buy another PCI card?
How much should I spend on a board?
Thanks in advance for all input.

If your cpu is socket 423, then I would just get another pci card until you have the money for a full upgrade. If you have a socket 478 cpu, I would go with a micro atx board with the 865gv chipset and a stick of pc3200. Newegg has a gigabyte refurb with this chipset for $45. 256 megs of pc3200 is about $50. Expect to rewire the front lead if you use your old compaq case. Also, if you have a recovery cd instead of a regular windows xp cd, it may not work with a non compaq board.
