upgraded cpu, now no screen

allright

i have a laptop presario 1700 , 600 cpu, i thought of upgrading the cpu, i
pulled out a working 800 mhz from another presario 1700, i swapped cpu's ,
the laptop boots , but i do not see anything on the screen , no sound,
simply nothing

i powered up the 2nd laptop , same results.

i swapped teh cup's back, same thing, nothing on the screen


have i burned out both cpu's or what did i do????

If you tried to install a Copermine PIII (800MHz) into a laptop that had a
Katmai PIII (600MHz) and vice versa, you may well have damaged both CPUs.

Sounds like you weren't grounded when you handled them, and they got zapped
with electrostatic charges.
And/or, do they have any little DIN switches that got accidentally changed?
And/or, are you sure they are plugged in correctly, with no bent pins, and
fully seated?
And, how do you know that a PC boots if there's no sound and nothing on the
screen?
Incidentally, what's the CPU? #pins? socket? etc

one of them wasnt set properly, it fired back up when i put it back
will try the 2nd one tomorrow
