Question Upgrades for Optiplex XE SFF

Hello. I am currently trying to upgrade my Dell Optiplex XE. The computer right now has a Intel core 2 duo E7400 which is a dual core cpu at 2.8ghz. I am trying to upgrade the CPU but I don't know which one is compatible. Do you guys have any suggestions? I was looking at the Q9650 http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_(chipsets)/Q45_Express.html since the PC has a Q45 chipset. Thank you!

Optiplex XE is a very interesting system. There's one with anQ9650 running here so I say go for it.

Those were designed to run in extreme environments like bill boards and airport signage. They have a much more robust 4 phase VRM than any other Opti. Very few people have attempted to mod that model. QX9650, or X 5470 Xeon swapping are unknown so far. But the hardware can handle it easily.
0W5791 is a heavy duty heatpipe cooler for Dell SFF cmoputers. It will probably fit that.

I started to build an XE DT model. I even got a GTX1060 3Gb to fit inside. But I started playing with E bikes and never finished it.
