Hello. Can any one provide a recommendation for an upgrade for a 11GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti, PCI Express 3.0. Under 500$. Mainly interested in flight sim DCS, MSFS 2020, Lockheed P3D, and Microsoft FSX performance.

My Current System Specs:

Operating System: Windows 10 Home (64-Bit)
Chassis: NZXT s340 Elite White
Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Z370X Gaming 5, LGA 1151
Processor: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Core Clock) Hex Core
CPU Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H100 Liquid Cooling
System Memory: 32GB Corsair DDR4 SDRAM 3000MHz
Graphics Processor: 11GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti, PCI Express 3.0
System Power: 850 Watt Corsair RM Series Power Supply
Sound Card: 7.1 High Definition Integrated Audio
Primary Data Drive: 1TB Samsung EVO 850 Solid State Drive (SSD)
Secondary Data Drive: 1TB Western Digital Black, 7200RPM

Thanks!

What resolution? And what is your framerate target? FWIW an RTX3060 12GB is roughly equivalent to your 1080Ti. Additionally your CPU will become the sticking point once you upgrade. For MSFS2020 specifically use the DX12 Beta mode to better utilize your 8700K. You'll still me mainthread limited I expect but it should help with the hitches and stutters when taking off or landing. For general recommendations any card substantially faster than the aforementioned 3060, and with at least 12GB of VRAM. My personal experience is with MSFS2020 and it is a VRAM hungry boi, especially when you get to 1440p and 4K. I am running a 4070Ti 12GB at 1440p and often see VRAM usage in excess of 10GB. I see around 80 to 100fps at max settings but I am also running an X3D CPU which gives a substantial performance boost due to the extra cache so my results will not be comparable.

If all you care about is straight up frames over ray tracing

Rx 6800

It's a fairly long card but it will smoke a 1080 ti

Other card would be the 7900 gre a bit more then 500.

I would personally upgrade to a used i9 9900 and pair it with the Rx 6800.

PCI gen 4 cards work with gen 3 you'll only run I to issues if there not using a full x 16 slot

Also those games etc are quite CPU bound.
