Hello there,
So my pc main components are 6 years old with these specs:
CPU: I5-8400
GPU: 1060 3GB
MB: B360M-DS3H
PS: 550W
RAM: 8x2-2400hz

I decided to upgrade the main components, but i can't afford to upgrade them all at once, so im thinking of getting a piece by piece starting with 4070 super, I'm aware that the PS will be insufficient and need to be upgraded along with the gpu so i kept that in mind (suggest me minmum wattage to get if possible).
Next upgrades would be the cpu along with the motherboard but this would be a few months later.
The question is, will there be any compatibility problems fitting the gpu in my current system? Im aware that there would be a bottleneck but what i can do!

Side question: is 4070s worth it or should i go with 4070 and wait less to get the rest of components?

You should aim at an RTX4070 Super or higher instead of the RTX4070.

PS: 550W
What is the make and model of your PSU and it's age? Have you narrowed down which brands to look for when purchasing a GPU?

If you're looking at a new PSU purchase, you should be looking into a reliably built 650W PSU so you can hold onto the unit for a long while(and effectively make it a worthwhile purchase).

My current PSU is AFOX AFPS-550A1, i got it with the bundle 6 years ago.

I didn't really decide which GPU brand to go with and it's mostly depends on the price, but i found two brands with a good price and i will probably go with either of them,
Zotac twin Edge
ASUS dual

Unless you need/care about Nvidia specific features, I would be looking at AMD cards, right now. The 7900gre is faster, and similar price of a 4070, and trades blows with the more expensive 4070s. The 7800xt is slightly faster than a 4070, and even cheaper yet. Here is price a list with the price comparisons, and a PSU recommendation. More than you absolutely need, but not priced that far off of lesser wattage PSU's of similar quality.

Thanks for your advice, I have actually thought about AMD but although gaming is one of my top priorities, I'm also concerned with dealing with Machine Learning training models and running them locally, and since Nvidia GPUs and their CUDA are much better in this situation than AMD I think it would be better for my needs, if it weren't for that I would have definitely go with the AMD
