I currently have an intel core 2130 and it doesnt reach the required settings for many of my games. I am unsure as to what i should upgrade to, but i've heard that an i5 would do good. Any suggestions would be welcome (i'm willing to spend however much but the cheapest would be perferable)

Solution
Maybe out dated content, but what I'm finding is that the best processor available for your motherboard (Dell specific) is the Intel Core I7-2600. Both the Intel Core I5-2400/2500 are also both supported.

If you can find any of these CPUs for a real low price (next to free), then it'd probably be worth the attempt to upgrade. Otherwise, you might as well start looking at a new system.

Depends on what your motherboard supports. If you built this computer, then you could probably use any of the processors suggested above. However, if this is a pre-built (HP, Dell, Acer, etc...), your options may be limited.

Please list your full system specifications:

Motherboard:
CPU: Intel Core I3-2130
RAM:
Storage:
Graphics:
Power Supply:
Custom/Pre-Built:

Model numbers are of immense help.

Cheers for the help.

I used i5-2500k (still have the computer, but using the new one i built with 9900k a week or two ago), very tasty CPU for overclocking, 4 cores 4 threads but multiplier unlocked to up until 60x. I didn't overclock it, but i intend to do so soon when i have available time and leave it overclocked, did a test yesterday and it sat around 50 celsius on 4.7 GHz all cores clock, very good CPU for that socket. The 2nd generation including i7-2600K (4 cores 8 threads) are very capable processors even nowadays, i would choose them over the 3rd gen or even 4th gen CPUs in most cases.
