Question Upgrading CPU in Dell Precision T3500

I currently have Xeon w3690 in my Dell Precision T3500 but I'm thinking of an upgrade, an i7-9700K, but I have no idea if it will work with my motherboard (09kpnv). Does someone know? What else should I be thinking of while upgrading CPU? Will I have to change ram as well? Or eventually, how much trouble would it be for me to change motherboard and case? Will I be able to just stick in parts from my T3500?

You're going to need a new board and a pair of rams to pair with the i7-9700K, not to mention a new, reliably built PSU to go with the build if you'd like to upgrade. As of now, the socket on the board will not allow you to drop in any processor outside of it's own generation.

You will need a new motherboard and ddr4 ram to accept an i7 9700k.

Your current motherboard is socket 1366 and modern intel CPUs use LGA1151. So no newer processors will fit.
I was afraid I'd had to do this. Outside of that, can someone recommend me an upgrade for W3690 that is compatible with my motherboard?

the w3690 isnt that bad is it? 6 cores with 12 threads . i dont Think you can do much better on this system. Your xeon is stronger than ryzen 5 1400.
Yeah, but it is going to fall off pretty soon. It works at 90% in games like Far Cry V and GTA V and can't hold stable 60 frames, dropping to 45 in the worst cases. With cyberpunk coming up I'm seriously considering upgrading. Guess I'll start saving up and put my t3500 on sale if that's the best it can do.

what is your gpu? with a 1155 xeon e3 1270 v with gtx 1060 i got + 60 fps in a system i tested a while ago.
RTX 2080. I tested far cry 5 today- changed graphics from ultra to normal and I still had the same FPS issue. Overall, dropping to 55 FPS every few seconds and to 45 when there is more action. Max gpu usage was 82% (at ultra) CPU 90% and ram something like 8 GB ( I have 16 now with 8 more coming up tomorrow). Basically changing graphics in-game does not increase FPS that's why I think it's CPU. Correct if I'm wrong :D

yeah it probably is . for a budget system your cpu probably would be ok since you want that better performance seems like you should upgrade. you should be able to get decent cash for this if you sell it .

Yeah but I'm gonna sell it with gtx 1050 ti and put RTX in the new pc. I may take one hard drive as well. Do you know the average price of such build? 24 GB ram 1050 ti w3690 1 tb hard drive and 750v PSU. For how much should I consider selling it? Gpu was used for about a year.
