Upgrading from 1055T to 2500K or 2600k?

Well after only having my AMD cpu for a year, im thinking of changing back to intel, either a 2500K or a 2600K.

I mainly use my computer for gaming, i have two 6970's in crossfire. Occasionally i do some video editing for my youtube channel. I use after effects and sony vegas.

I dont really want to spend an extra $100 for the 2600K, but ive heard that battlefield 3 supports hyperthreading, and since this is the main game i play at the moment, would the 2600K be better for it. I also play GTA iv a bit, and i admit, this runs like crap on my 1055T.

So what i need to know should i get a 2500K or a 2600K? Would it benefit me? Why it would suit my preferences?

Maybe you could wait it out till the ivy bridge this april? what resolution you game at?
The 1055T with small overclock is prettymuch enough for most games.

I would recommend the 2500K, except for your note about bf3. The 2500K OC's well and, unless bf3 is optimized for hyperthreading, it will rival the 2600K in performance. Note, that there is a difference between supporting hyperthreading and being optimized for it.

The 2500K is the choice of gamers for a good reason: it is the most bang for the buck, and other chips only give marginal advantages, if any.

yep it will beat your x6 in almost every thing.2500k is enough for any game.a good overclock makes it a bit 'overkill' for some games! go for it
and don't forget to overclock...........................

Hmmm. A 2600K is not going to make much noticeable difference over what you have for gaming, but for some of the other stuff, yeah, it will make a difference. Since Ivy Bridge is only a few months away, unless your budget is tight, I would wait for it if I had your build right now. Even if you don't build with it, its going to cause the price of the current hardware to drop some, I am sure.

i did one of those anand cpu comparisons and was expecting to come back and post how small the differences were, but i was indeed uninformed, the 2500k had twice the FPS in the cpu gaming category than the 1055t

Yeh my buget is tight, and its staring to get to me, just the little thing, like GTA iv \as badly optimzed as it is) running at an extremely low framerate.

Dont rly want to wait. I game at 1920x1080, i overclocked my 1055t to 3.3 GHZ and it didnt help much

Im decided, im going to get a 2500K.

Dont worry i wont forget to overclock, i have a corsair H50 for that 😀
