looking to upgrade my old ass card to something a bit more relevant. So far I have my eyes on the gtx 1660 super ($320), the gtx 1660 ti oc ($320), and the rx VEGA 56 ($330).

All three are on sale and are similarly priced as you can see. I live in Canada so all prices are in CAD for those wondering.

The links for each specific card are here: https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_557_559&item_id=151558 (1660 super)
https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_557_559&item_id=135281 (1660 ti oc)
https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_557_558&item_id=137093 (rx VEGA 56)

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

mobo - gigabyte z77x-ud3h
cpu - i5 3570k

8 gb RAM
samsung 850 evo 250 gb
seagate 2 tb HDD

The Vega 56 is faster, but known for drawing a TOOOOON of power and running very loud and hot.
The 1660ti isnt far behind performance wise and draws less power and puts off less heat.

For 1440p, if the cons of the VEGA56 dont bother you, you can go for that.
ya I kinda figured as much. I bought the unlocked i5 but never actually overclocked it. I'm going to assume that overclocking it to 4.2 ghz wont make much of a difference.

my monitor is an aoc 29 inch ultrawide (2560 x 1080) 60 hz refresh rate
would my mobo even support the newer cpus??

I should note that I do plan on getting a better monitor this black friday

Sorry, I got caught up watching the Raptors game. Thanks for the advice man! I really appreciate it.

I've read that the vega 56 is still faster than the 1660 ti even though it is a year or 2 older. Is this information accurate? Which is the better card overall? The price difference is only 10 bucks. Both cards are the OC version. Keep in mind I am strongly considering buying a 1440p monitor later this month during black friday sales or later in december during boxing week sales.
