Like the title says, looking for what's next. The HD 7850 is doing just fine even with most I've thrown at it, but with newer stuff coming out (GTA V PC port in the fall), just looking to see what my options are. Looking for something in the $250ish range.

Most responses to posts like mine say the R9 280x is the way to go but I'm so out of the loop on these cards that I don't know how big of a difference I'd notice.

Hence, my question. Any help would be great, thanks.

In-game FPS around 30% up to 55% frames increase, all or most games Maxed Out Settings at 1080p, with high average FPS at around 50-60 in new gen games.

Ya lost me. What are you talking about?

You would notice difference of around 30% up to 55% performance increase between HD 7850 and r9 280x.
That could be anywhere from 20 - 40 FPS increase in old games.
In the new games, you would be able to play at Max Graphical Settings mostly, at resolution of 1080p, with around average FramesPerSeconds at 45-60.

Since r9 280x is the best card in that price range, best performance for bucks.

Oh haha, gotcha. Didn't know you were talking about that one. Thanks for the info though. Pretty much confirms what I was thinking and what I've read. Any big difference in the manufacturers of them? One better than the other?

Best would be to go for Asus, MSI, Sapphire and Gigabyte brands, in not necessary correct order.
I would personally recommend Asus and MSI, I had some problems with Gigabyte before and otherwise don't like their aesthetic. Still lot other people are happy with them.
Didn't try Sapphire, but lot people also recommends them for AMD cards, supposedly also XFX works great.

My 7850 is a Sapphire and haven't had any issues, but I have read recommendations about Asus which is a brand I've always been fond of.

Thank you again for your info and quick responses!
